On July 13, President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Gints Kaminskis, the Chairman of the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG), to discuss the current issues of the LALRG’s agenda, the challenges of the municipalities and cities after the implementation of the Administrative Territorial Reform (ATR).
The President confirmed his readiness to visit every municipality and city of Latvia in order to familiarize himself with the work of local governments, as well as with the environment and needs of the residents of the local governments, educational institutions and entrepreneurship. For example, the President during his first regional visit on July 21, will visit the Krāslava municipality.
During the meeting, President E. Rinkēvičs and Chairman of the LALRG G. Kaminskis agreed to continue close cooperation, to organize regular meetings and exchange of information and, if necessary, to work together with experts from the LALRG.
